Aptana: a free & open-source Web site IDE
Via Forever Geek, Aptana is a free, open-source, cross-platform Web IDE. It does typing-completion for HTML, CSS, JavaScript, shows you the level of support of each one in browsers – this screenshot shows well how cool it is – and probably other cool things I have not figured out yet. It’s also available as an Eclipse plugin, though they warn about conflicts with WTP.
People seem to compare it with DreamWeaver. Quanta Plus looked closer to DreamWeaver feature-wise then Aptana to my non-expert eyes (I’m not a DreamWeaver user), but it’s limited to KDE environments.
I gave the stand-alone version a try and it is really cool indeed. Version 0.31 does not seem to do character entity references completion, but it’s otherwise impressive. Try it!
