larve.net's history

2006-03-19: Moved to DreamHost
See my blog entry for details and a coupon
2004-01-25: Running Apache again
2000/11/15: Moved my mail and DNS to Debian boxes.
My DNS and mail servers are now Debian boxes. I feel safer that way. One is my shiny, brand new (cough) Sun SparcStation 20, which is the reincarnation of evo.larve.net. The other one is un.impressive.net which belongs to Gerald Oskoboiny.

2000/10/24: Installed a search box on the home page.
The home page now features a search box using Google's Free WebSearch. Time will tell whether it is useful or not. Of course, it will depend on how well indexed my site is.
2000/08/10: Now cache-friendly and P3P compliant.
All the responses now include a Cache-Control and P3P headers.
HTTP/1.1 200 OK

2000/08/06: Converted all my documents to US-ASCII.
I got rid of my ISO-8859-1 encoding. Why use US-ASCII you might ask?
2000/07/06: Switched to Jigsaw.
I finally got rid of Apache and installed Jigsaw to serve my site. Woohoo! See the result of a HEAD on http://larve.net/:

2000/04/27: Moved everything again!
This time, it's for good though. At least I hope so. Now everything is under Raid, so I'm pretty confident about the new setup.
2000/04/13: Moved everything back to my desktop.
Well, I should have been scared after all. The disk on evo.larve.net is an old IDE drive and it's flaky:
Apr 13 19:52:55 evo kernel: hda: read_intr: status=0x59 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest Error }
Apr 13 19:52:55 evo kernel: hda: read_intr: error=0x40 { UncorrectableError }, LBAsect=1762646, sector=492566
Apr 13 19:52:55 evo kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 03:02 (hda), sector 492566
I have promptly put everything back on my desktop machine.
2000/03/24: Moved all the services to evo.larve.net.
I am running the development Debian distribution on my machine, so it was scaring me. So I installed a Debian 2.2 on an old P100. I'm not scared anymore!
2000/03/20: www.larve.net is now redirected to larve.net to make URI's shorter
It was a bad idea to use www.larve.net instead of larve.net.
2000/01/28: www.larve.net is up and running on my machine at work.
It took a long time to move and organize everything, but here it is.
2000/01/21: larve.net is owned by Hugo Haas!
Woohoo! Read why, how and a few rules used on the site.

Hugo Haas.
